Menevit is being touted as the first ever drug for male infertility, a condition which affects one in 20 men.
The pill treats the underlying cause of male infertility - the free radicals which fragment sperm. It is a supplement containing antioxidants like vitamins E and C as well as lycopene, selenium zinc and folate.
However it has only had one clinical trial, held in Australia on 60 infertile men.
The partners of those on Menevit had a 40% pregnancy success rate, compared with just 16% taking nothing.
"Until there are much bigger studies you can't say absolutely but it's quite a convincing study," says Doctor Pete Benny of the new drug.
An IVF clinic in Christchurch is one of only two nationwide which will get access to Menevit initially.
It won't be available over the counter at your local pharmacy, because it is designed to work in conjunction with traditional IVF treatments and not on its own. And that's the latest information on Menevit Male Infertility.
